(I forget exactly!) So, if you had dollars, Japan wasn't such an expensive place! Like writing for American mags was great, because they paid in dollars. Hell, even in 2005 (when <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com/">CheapyD</a> got to Japan), it was still 120 yen to the dollar. Not too shady!</p> <p>Then the Japanese economy got better, and then the US one didn't. And then it got worse and worse and the exchange rate is currently 103 yen to the dollar.
